How a commission works.
Every Yoru Foundry keyboard is built to order, one at a time, by me. Nothing is pulled from a shelf. This page explains how payment, timing, changes, shipping and returns work, so we both know what to expect before I order a single part.
Quote and deposit
After we talk through what you want, I send you a written quote with the parts, the work involved and the total. Prices are quoted individually because no two builds are the same.
To begin, I ask for a 50% deposit. The deposit reserves your place on my bench and pays for the parts I order for your build. Work starts when the deposit is received and the build spec is confirmed in writing.
The remaining 50% is due when the build is finished and has passed final testing, before it ships. I send you photos and a sound test first, so you see and hear your keyboard before you pay the balance.
Lead time
A typical build takes about 2–5 weeks after the parts are confirmed and in hand. Some parts, like group-buy keycaps, custom cases or specific switches, can take longer to arrive; if a part has a long lead time, I tell you before you pay the deposit. If anything changes while I work, I tell you right away and give you a new date.
Changes and revisions
Before I order parts, you can change anything in the spec at no cost.
After parts are ordered, changes are still often possible: you pay the difference for any new parts, plus a restocking or return cost if a part can’t be returned. Changes may move the delivery date.
Tuning is part of the build: lubing, stabilizer work and sound adjustments are done to the profile we agree on. If the finished board doesn’t match what we agreed, I adjust it before it ships.
Cancellations
If you cancel before I order parts, I refund your deposit in full.
If you cancel after parts are ordered, I refund the deposit minus the cost of parts that can’t be returned and any work already done.
Shipping
Every board is packed carefully and shipped with tracking and insurance. Shipping is quoted separately and paid with the balance.
I ship within the United States. International shipping is available on request; any import duties, taxes or customs fees are paid by the buyer. Local pickup in Miami is available by arrangement.
If a board arrives damaged, contact me within 48 hours with photos of the box and the keyboard, and I’ll work with you and the carrier to make it right.
Returns
Because every commission is built to your specification, custom builds can’t be returned for a refund. That is why you see photos and hear a sound test before paying the balance.
If something is wrong with the work itself, I will make it right.
Workmanship guarantee
I stand behind my work. If a problem caused by the build (my soldering, assembly, lubing or stabilizer work) appears within 90 days of delivery, I fix it at no charge for labor. You cover shipping to me and I cover shipping back.
This doesn’t cover normal wear, damage from drops or spills, modifications made after delivery, or parts that carry their own manufacturer warranty, though I’ll help you with those claims.
Payment
I send an invoice for the deposit and for the balance, with the ways you can pay. I never see or store full card numbers.
